What 50 means now...
I know that it's been awhile since any kind of serious updates, so I thought I'd hit you twice today.
Sister Catherine was 31 years old when she became the first principal here at Pius. She was taking over a school that was built by the community around her, and she couldn't have had any idea that it would become what it became. For one thing, she was shocked to learn that we still maintained the original buildings, but was quite happy to learn that we had repainted them from their original teal. (That's actually not a joke. For all of our building skill, we apparently didn't know much about acceptable color schemes.)
The exciting thing is that she is now able to return to us, 50 years after the start of something which has grown beyond all imagining, and share that humble dream that once was Pius. What a tremendous moment this is for all of us; we have the wonderful chance to see where we were and where we're going all in the same moment.
Hope you can join us Friday after mass for her remarks.
